Join fellow Southern Sierra Cyclists members on Monday, November 17, at 7:00 pm at the Visalia City Council meeting at 707 W Acequia to show support for Tulare Avenue protected bike lanes, the most significant bike facility project since we successfully spoke up for Mooney Blvd bike lanes several years ago.
The Tulare Avenue protected bike lanes are controversial because they are a new concept for Visalia, and they are not well understood. If you ride down Tulare Ave in the vicinity of Mt Whitney HS, you will see lots of white paint lines that are a bit hard to understand. On Monday night, Diego Corvera, our bicycle advocate and engineeer at the City, will explain the various lines. Besides bike lanes and parking, the lines also create safe islands for Tulare Ave residents to back out of their driveways, and for City transit bus stops.
SSC wants to support Diego and let Council know we support these bicycle facility improvements because they provide a safe place for cyclists of all ages, 8 to 80 and beyond, to ride. There are 9 schools along Tulare Ave. Let's make it safe!
Attached you will find a summary of some of the points we want to make to Council. Please join us! Tulare Avenue Comments.docx
