Climb the Coast! Come and ride with your fellow SSC and FCC members!
The Southern Sierra Cyclists and the Fresno Cycling Club are planning a joint ride weekend to escape the heat! The 5th annual Climb the Coast event is planned for the weekend of Aug 2-3, 2025. On Saturday we have two routes both starting in San Luis Obispo area. While the routes typically don't include all that much climbing, they are quite scenic. Sunday's ride will be hillier, starting in Cambria and climbing to Ragged Point.
Book your room reservations early so that you and you friends can enjoy a weekend of coastal riding, food and fun. There is a lot to do in the area and it is always better to share the experience with your friends.
Saturday's ride starts in Meadow Park heading out Los Osos Valley Rd to Turri Rd it continues around the back bay into Morro Bay and then heads up to Cayucos for water and snacks before heading back. For those that want a little more, they will continue on up to Shamel Park in Cambria where water and snacks will be provided before returning back to SLO.
Sunday's ride starts in Shamel Park heading north to Ragged Point on Highway 1. The route heads up past San Simeon, where you might see the zebra herd, Elephant Seal Vista Point, the Lighthouse, and the rugged scenic coast. For those wishing a shorter ride you can turn around at Elephant Seal Vista Point. Water and snacks will be available at Ragged Point.
The Saturday ride starts at 10AM from Meadow Park (2251 Meadow St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401). The Sunday ride starts at 10AM from Shamel Park ( 5455 Windsor Blvd, Cambria, CA 93428).

This two day event is designed specifically for SSC club members. The routes offer beautiful scenery. SAG support and rest stops will be provided. While there is no hosted dinner this year we hope you will join us in downtown SLO for dinner and fun. Old SLO BBQ, The Oak Grill, Antonia's Pizza, are just a few of the places to choose from.
Register early and book your accommodations ASAP.
This year you can register for just one of the two days if you prefer. Volunteer to SAG or run a rest stop one Saturday and ride Sunday and ride the other day free!
