Climb the Coast! Come and ride with your fellow SSC members!

The Southern Sierra Cyclists are planning another weekend to escape the heat!  The 5th annual Climb the Coast event is planned for the weekend of Aug 10-11, 2024.  We have two new routes planned starting in San Luis Obispo. While the routes typically don't include all that much climbing, they are scenic and refreshing, and besides, "Climb the Coast" has a nice ring to it!

Book your reservations early so that you and you friends can enjoy a weekend of coastal riding, food and fun together!  There is a lot to do in the area and it is always better to share the experience with your friends.

This will be so much fun! How hot will it be in August here in the Central Valley? How nice will it be to escape to the cooler climate of the coast!  These rides were chosen to allow all our riders  a successful ride as well as a  pleasurable experience.  Saturdays ride starts in Meadow Park heading out Los Osos Valley Rd to Turri Rd it continues around the back bay into Morro Bay and then heads up to Cayucos before heading back.  For those that want a little more, they will continue on up to Cambria for a possible cup of coffee or lunch (no host) before returning back to SLO.

Sundays ride also starts in Meadow Park but loops down toward Avila Beach.  There is a decision to make when you get to Avila Beach turnoff.  Ride all the way out to the end of the pier before heading to Pismo Beach?  It adds 8 miles but it is scenic.  The route is still scenic if you choose not to, its just 8 miles shorter.  Heading into Pismo Beach riders may want to stop for a picture at the giant Pismo Beach sign before heading on toward the scenic Corbett Canyon Rd and returning to Meadow Park.  The longer route is 41 miles and the shorter version is 33 miles.

Both rides start at 9 AM from Meadow Park (2251 Meadow St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401).

This two day event is designed specifically for SSC rider's joy and pleasure. The routes offer beautiful scenery. SAG support and rest stops are being planned.  While there is no hosted dinner this year we hope you will join us in downtown SLO for dinner and fun.  Old SLO BBQ, The Oak Grill, Antonia's Pizza, are just a few of the places to choose from. Watch for conversations on the new Slack app hosted by David and Rosie!

Let's ride! Let's party! Let's have fun!

Register early and book your accommodations ASAP!

This year you can register for just one of the two days if you prefer. And...PSST! Volunteer to SAG or run a rest stop one day and ride the other day free!
